23may.txt Ken Davis Storms broke out in NCentral Kansas last night. CI mission took place over the TX/OK panhandle along the dry-line. No downward looking lidar (Falcon down, P-3 LEANDRE pointing sideways within the ABL). Lots of stratus and cirrus today, strong southerly winds. CI mission in central Oklahoma along a cold front. The Falcon will fly back and forth across the front with the DLR lidar pointing down. Potential data for ABL studies. Note that the King Air doppler radar and Eldora doppler radar on the P-3 are both reporting that they clearly observe clear-air boundary layer thermals, hence we may be able to use these data for ABL studies as well.
