14may.txt IHOP is underway! The UWyoming King Air flew along its 3 boundary layer flight tracks yesterday, just to check them out prior to more substantive operations. They are being referred to as the eastern, central and western tracks. See the operations plan on-line for a map of these tracks. No lidar-bearing aircraft are on-site yet, though the NRL P-3 with Eldora (doppler radar) and LEANDRE (French DIAL) is due very soon (might be there now?). CO2 measurements are running at 2 of 9 NCAR flux towers, thanks to Scott's efforts with assistance from Ankur. Scott is in Norman. I leave for Norman on 16 May. Data is being posted on-line ALEXI surface flux estimates are at: http://kang.ssec.wisc.edu/~alexi/USAlexi_home/ NCAR flux tower data (posted in near real-time) is at: http://www.atd.ucar.edu/rtf/projects/ihop_2002/isff/ Lots more is available via the IHOP web page: http://www.atd.ucar.edu/rtf/projects/ihop_2002/ ...more notes... Surface flux towers show very large Bowen ratios at the western towers, and ratios < 1 at the central towers. The eastern towers are not working well so the Bowen ratio there is not clear. This pattern matches ALEXI maps from the previous 5 days that showed a similar pattern over the entire OK/KS/TX region.
